Beef Shin and Guinness Cottage Pie
Ingredients
- 4 ea Beef fillet, raw
- 80 gr MAGGI Premium Jus Lié Beef Flavoured Sauce Mix
- 100 gr MAGGI Classic Beef Flavoured Booster Gluten Free Dissolved
- 1 L Water Boiling
- 500 mL Beer Guinness
- 200 mL Olive oil For searing/braising
- 200 gr Onion Large dice
- 150 gr Carrot 1/2 dice
- 200 gr Mushroom Sliced
- 4 ea Garlic Diced
- 200 gr MAGGI Classic Gluten Free Mashed Potato Mix 4kg
- 250 gr Natural cheese, grated
Preparation

1Seal/sear Beef Shins on an oiled flat top grill.

2Dust each Shin with 20 grams of MAGGI Jus Lie Mix

3Place Shins in a lightly oiled deep gastro pan and add onions, carrots, mushrooms and garlic.

4Add 1 litre of dissolved MAGGI Beef Booster and 500 mls Guinness Beer. Shins should be 3/4 covered.

5Cover with foil and braise for 2 1/2 hours at 150 C. Uncover, baste with liquid and cook uncovered for 45 more minutes.

6Remove Shins and allow to cool so they can be handled. Remove meat from shins and set aside. You should have approximately 2kg of braised shin meat.

7Strain vegetable from braising liquid. Reduce liquid to a thickened sauce.

8Put 200 gram portions of meat and equal amounts of vegetables into serving ramekins. Pour reduced sauce over contents to just cover.

10Prepare MAGGI Mashed Potato using ratio on label and mix in 250 grams of grated cheese.

11Transfer Cheesy Potato mixture to a piping bag and top each ramekin.

12Bake at 170 C for 20 minutes and serve.
